Pantai Seafood

Pantai Seafood @ Kampung Sungai Ara

My wife is asking me to come to her family dinner, Pantai Seafood Restaurant, at Kampung Sungai Ara. I come with a bit high expectations as I am particular with seafood. When talking about seafood, I have high hope for freshness and texture. It takes high skill in cooking when you are handling seafood to maintain their freshness and taste. From what my wife told me, it is quite an excellent place to have good food.

When I arrived there, I like the decoration of the place. They have open space, a standard table, or you can book a room to have privacy, which including a karaoke machine where you can sing to your heart content. Seriously it is not bad for a seafood restaurant, which I found out that they are part of a unique seafood group of restaurants.

Black Tofu with Mushroom

Our first dish is black tofu with mushrooms. I was told it is part of the Pantai Seafood specialty dish, hand-made black tofu. It is rare to find black tofu, where it commonly made with black bean. It is rich in antioxidants, so the more you eat, the better for your body is. My first bite, I know that this black tofu has refrigerated for quite a while, and I salute for the chef to be able, bringing good taste out of it.

Our next in the menu is pork ribs. I am surprise seeing this as the commonly big restaurant does not serve lard and pork. It cooked with marmite sauce and potato chips. Yes, it is creative to put potato chips into this dish. The ribs are tasty and finger-licking good.

Next on the menu is green vegetables with dried squid. I like the veggies (I have no idea what the English name is), it is crunchy and saltiness just lovely. Just that I don’t think it is a good idea to put dried squid on top of it. Nothing synergy or uniqueness comes out of it. I only have two tastes that quite distinguish when eating separately and together.

Salted Egg Fried Prawn

It has salted egg fried prawn. This dish is one of my favorite recipes. It still has the sweetness of the prawn. The salted egg proportion just lovely, just that I wish they clean the prawn properly as we suppose to chew whole things first.

Tilapia Fish with Curry

Tilapia fish with curry. Now, this dish is nothing special. I don’t think it is fresh, besides that it is just typical curry fish probably commonly can found in everywhere. Nothing much that I can say about this dish.

Overall, Pantai Seafood at Kampung Sungai Ara is worth to mention. I want to give another try for this restaurant simply because I did not order their specialty. As Crystal family pays this dinner, so can’t demand much since it is not out of my pocket. I want to try their crab, and prawn cooked in a different style. The pork ribs and black tofu is the menu that I will order again. I recommend this place for family dinner and book their room for an unlimited karaoke session.
