It is my second time to Sekinchan, and this time, I have time to spend two days one night there to go around and hunt the food. This town is famous for its Paddy field, and seafood. It is near to the sea, where lots of fisherman boats in the city, and there are many kinds of seafood that you can buy fresh as well. I am starting hungry when I enter Sekinchan town, and my first visit is Heong Kee restaurant, recommended by locals.
Our first stop is having our lunch at the Hong Kee restaurant, and my friend recommended this place to have a good lunch. Since Sekinchan town only has one main road, so it is kind of easy to find this place as it is quite nearby to the main road, just that you might find some difficulties in finding the signboard since it is not bright and hard to notice while driving.
For starter, the first order Bak Kut Teh, since it is their main dish in this place. You might need to wait a bit longer as the plate takes a longer time than I expected, while my friends and I am hungry, it makes the waiting feels like an eternity. When it comes, we are delighted and start tasting the soup and turns out it is good. If you like a watery type of Bak Kut Teh, this one might be suitable for you (I like it thick soup one).
Our second dish is Lala with ginger, due to this place close with the sea, the freshness of the food is very high, and the ginger gives good taste to the soup, so if you order this, you will want to have more soup from the Lala to put into your rice.
We order this by recommendation, it is just head fish, but this dish is the best so far. The cook knows how to make this delicacy very good, and it contains a lot of fish oil, where the gravy will taste thick. This dish is a must-order, although the price is high since it depends on the size that you order, it worth it. The one that we request is about more than 1 KG, and it can feed ten people nicely.
Mantis prawn, one of Sekinchan most available seafood in town, it taste sweet and spicy, and sadly we order small portion since we want to know how it taste, but after one bite we know that we should order medium or big size as this one is also another well cooked dish so far.
Overall we are amazed by the freshness of seafood, this place is worth one star. If you pay visit to Sekinchan, obviously you need to visit Heong Kee restaurant, where you can find the address below:
