Ippudo Roppongi Ramen @ Tokyo

When I was in Tokyo, I always want to go to the ramen shop, one part of it due to Naruto, another part of it I am big fans of noodles. I still think that I eat noodles more than I eat rice, which is why I look for a good ramen shop. When I google the ramen shop, there are lots of reviews and also many restaurants about ramen. Some are famous that I can’t even get any reservations. Some of the queues are too long to wait. I choose Ippudo Roppongi ramen is because the place that I am going to is just around the area.

It is quite hard to notice the restaurant sign since it is written in Kanji, and thank God, my wife, able to point the place out. I tried to use google to find and still miss the place, well we talk about Tokyo here. The site is rather significant, and thank God that when we arrive at the restaurant, it is not many people like we read in some of the blogs. I had prepared that we were going to queue pretty long, like what we did when we enjoy Shushi Dai at Tsukiji Market.

One thing that I appreciate is the menu has English. It is hard to find an outstanding Japanese restaurant with an English menu. It also shows some pictures of the noodle. Seriously, when I am looking at the list, my mouth wet by my saliva.

The interior designer pretty much displays all about noodles. Well, you are in the noodle shop, so why not making the noodle part of the decoration too.

Shiromaru Special
Shiromaru Special

This is what I order, Shiromaru special. The reason I order this as I want to taste the original Tonkotsu broth. People often order this after a drinking session, and it is pretty fast and straightforward to make. The simplest it is, the hardest to make the taste outstanding. The noodle is perfectly chewy, and well balance salt and broth.

Akamaru Special

My wife order Akamaru special. She prefers miso-based noodles. I can see her eating it nicely and making a slurping sound. What makes it taste more outstanding is the half-boiled egg, where the outside is cooked firmly, and the inside is just half cooked.

Overall, Ippodu Roppongi ramen worth two stars. If you are in Japan or planning to go to Japan, it is worth your time and money to find this restaurant and enjoy this ramen. One thing that I impress is, when the meal is served, the soup is not too hot or lukewarm. It is just a lovely temperature to eat immediately. When you are eating this ramen, do make slurp sound to shows how nice it is. It is not rude to make this sound in Japan when you are enjoying ramen.
