Are you looking for special Penang noodles? Look no further when you try Hameed Pata Mee Sotong. It is well known in Penang among locals and tourists. This place is a must place to visit when you want to try unique Penang noodle taste.
Seeing how they always cook an insignificant portion, not to mention the constant taste (I tried before couple months back, and they serve the same flavor). Well, after you cook for more than ten years the same dish, you will be able to master the cooking method.
How do I found out about this place? My friend, who loves Malaysian Indian food recommends this to me. Why I say Malaysian Indian food because it has been localized taste due to local culture, one thing that I love about this place is that they cook consistent taste, the sweetness blends well with a salty and slightly sour taste. You can add more lime juice to the noodle to enhance the “tickling” taste bud.
Located quite well hidden in one of the food courts, but commonly you can spot this shop easily when there is a queue. When I come to this place, it is about 5:30 PM, so I guess they are just open and still no many people (Lucky me!!!).
Two dishes that I order in Hameed Pata Mee Sotong, One is squid noodle. Their specialty. The second one is called “Penang Rojak.”
I think the tomato sauce in the Mee Sotong is what makes it outstanding. You can order a spicy version (is what I order). The unique enhancement you can request is to add more fried garlic. The Penang Rojak is an extraordinary taste. It is my first time tasting this unique taste. So both dishes are indeed outstanding.
Summary on Hameed Pata Mee Sotong
I am giving two stars rating for this place because it is indeed unique, and it is worth to drive to this place. (Kinda hard find parking in this area, plus if you go during rush hour, expect long travel time). If you are visiting Penang for the first time or perhaps have not heard about this place, it is time to make time to visit this place.
