The picture above is the looks from outside of Tonkatsu by Ma Maison. It located at One Utama at 3rd-floor old wings, just nearby Isetan. I had been here for about four times, and it always makes me satisfied whenever I have done in here. Whenever I go to One Utama, I often confused with many choices of restaurants and cafes.
Above is the display of food; they are focusing on Tonkatsu, a Japanese dish which consists of breaded, deep-fried meat cutlet. My wife loves fried stuff, and this place always serves the best deep-fried Japanese food. Currently, she pregnant about five months, and she keeps telling me that she is craving about Japanese food. This place I can consider safe as the food served are all fully cooked.
The interior of the restaurant is straightforward and giving the ambient of Japanese. I love the way how they decorate the place, and the wooden table is something that I want to put into my own future house.
The menu full of pictures about the food, and what makes it outstanding is what you see on the list is what you get. I know Japanese people are very particular about their presentation, and the Tonkatsu picture looks alive. It also has enough information about the item description, plus the price (the most critical factor!!).
One thing that I like their spices is the salad dressing. It is quite a price if you buy in Aeon or any place, and here you can finish the whole bottle by yourself, and they will refill immediately.
This is what my wife order, pork fillet Tonkatsu. They are done an outstanding job on making the meat as tender as possible plus the crispiness of the skin well done. The serving is quite significant. The rice you can choose either white or brown rice. Both salad and rice you can add as much as you want. It is a so-called mini buffet for rice and vegetables. I frequently eating the salad average of three servings.
This is my order. Chicken stuff with cheese. I wish they stuff more cheese in this chicken, but it will make the taste overwhelm with cheese taste. One tip having this is you need to put a bit salt and then spicy sauce. You can even order their homemade black sauce, where it will enhance the taste even better.
Overall this place is worth one star. I often come to this place and enjoying the meal here. One thing that I want to highlight that the standard is not that stable, especially during peak periods. It tends to have a bit burnt or over fried, but it is still ok and always tastes good. I think if they marinate the meat, it will taste even better — one of the right places to eat at One Utama mall.
