Outstanding and Epic Seafood at Cha Po Tion Restaurant Sekinchan

Are you looking for a Sekinchan seafood restaurant? You will be overwhelmed with many choices in Sekinchan. I blog before about restaurant Bagan. One of well known Sekinchan seafood restaurant. This is why this time I am trying a new one, Cha Po Tion. This place might not be known to an outsider, but it is favorable for locals to have their seafood meal. You can see many local dining here during lunchtime.

It is quite challenging to find for the first-timer. The sign is not that clear, as you can see, they only put cute little small signs.

You would not find any fancy seat or with air-con when dining in this place. If it is crowded, it will be competition based to get a position. Seriously, you need to stand nearby with the table that almost finishes. Good thing I am carrying my toddler, so some customers finish their meal fast and giving the seat to me.

I found out that it is a somewhat typical Sekinchan seafood restaurant layout, open-air, fan, and round tables. Well, as long as you serve good and killer taste, that itself enough. To me, the main thing is the freshness of ingredients and how they cook it.

Dishes

We ask the owner of Cha Po Tion to give us a recommendation about the food. The aunt confidently told us that she could cook anything. Well, It gives me to doubt when people have such a bold claim. It raises my expectations. To prove it, I order steam fish, and my wife wants to try their fried squid. The last dish we want to have mantis prawn in chili. Since it is only two of us, we only order in a small portion.

I like how they cook steam fish. The sweetness of the fish, with some slight sourness from tomato, plus generous onion. I also taste a bit of rice wine. The reason I order steam fish is to ensure the fish is fresh. At the same time, it is not easy to get right balance. I really love this fish dish.

The second dish is fried squid. Apart from the fresh ingredients, they did not use any MSG at all. I am even surprised that they did not put much salt in this dish. Commonly it will be quite salty, to match with rice.

Lastly is my favorite in Cha Po Tion, mantis prawn chili. This one is another highlight of the dish after steam fish. It is quite spicy, so you might ask to reduce chili if you can’t take the heat. The sauce of this dish is superb to have with rice. Not to mention the egg cooked just lovely.

Overall this place obtains one star quickly from me. If they are using better cooking oil and soy sauce. Pretty sure it will improve the taste significantly. So when you are looking for seafood, you can have a big feast here. Ah, the price is not that high!!!!

They are open from 7 AM to 2 PM. Closed on Monday. Be there around 11 AM if you want to avoid the long queue.
